My First Low-Poly 3D Car Model for a Game
After spending a lot of time learning Blender, I finally reached the point where I could model my own 3D car. I knew it would be a simple low-poly car, but I honestly didn't expect it to turn out as good as it did. It may not be super detailed compared to what I hope to model in the future, but for my current 3D design skills, I'm very happy with the result.
What makes this project even more exciting is that the car isn't just a random render. This 3D model is going to be used in a driving game I'm building in Godot. It feels like the moment where my Blender practice and my game development experiments finally started to come together.
Watch the 3D Car Modeling Timelapse
This is a sped-up video showing my full process of modeling the low-poly car in Blender. The main modeling part took about an hour. Off camera, I went back to clean up the scene, rename all the objects properly, and apply mirror modifiers so I could export the car as a GLB file and drop it straight into my Godot game.
